CROSSFIRE

Crossfire was made in 48 hours for the GMTK Game Jam with the theme: Genre without Mechanic, where developers were challenged with removing a fundamental mechanic associated with a genre and developing features around that. For example a Platformer but without jumping, or a Driving game without being able to brake.

Crossfire is a shooter where you can't shoot. Instead, you'll run into the enemy's crossfire in an attempt to get them to shoot one another. Equipped with the ability to slow down time, you can dodge bullets coming at you causing them to destroy another enemy behind you.

A little information about the game:

  • You have the ability to slow down time just by holding a button

  • Enemies will not shoot if you get too close to them, encouraging players to be bolder and move towards enemies, separating them from one another.

  • Killing enemies drops collectible points and occasionally, power-ups. By forcing the player to pick up points, it keeps the player on the move.

This game was also featured in Mark Brown's video where he showcased the 20 best games out of the 1054 submissions to the jam. I have updated the game since then.
