Space Wave
Space Wave is a winning entry for the Game Maker Space Mods: Holiday Community Competition, a competition based on creating a recognisable modification of the GMS 2 Space Mods tutorial which is based off the retro game Asteroids.

Space Wave is a modification of the classic game Asteroids with a retro synthwave neon look on it.
​
This game was built over the course of 1 week by myself as an entry to the competition. Space Wave
features a beautiful 80's neon synthwave look with an awesome fitting soundtrack made by my friend Ryan Tan to go with it, awesome powerups and an intense boss fight in the final wave while maintaining the original gameplay and movement controls of Asteroids.

Over the course of building this game, not only did I have lots of fun, I've learned a lot, design wise. For example, I wanted to stick to a strict colour scheme which gave me some creative limitations, so I've had to come up with ways to make the player stand out from the other sprites on screen.
